Joe Outlaw, MBA, CFP
Joe E. Outlaw, originally from Clarksville, Tennessee, attended Lincoln University on a football scholarship. He graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University, Honorary Doctoral Degree Recipient and completed certification as a financial planner.
He currently resides in San Diego and he has served his community in a variety of roles, including a stint as chairman of the Zoning Appeals Board of the City of San Diego, Chairman of the Board of Consumer Community Economic Development Association, Chairmen of the Board of Consumer Credit Counseling Service, where he oversaw the affordable housing program. As a partner in Prime Impact Sports Management Group, he personally represented numerous National Football League players, providing services ranging from negotiating multi-million dollar contracts to investment planning to post-career counseling.
His thirty years of experience in financial planning includes serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Pentrust Financial, one of the top financial planning services firms in
San Diego. Throughout his career, he has amassed a number of financial planning credentials including the financial planning mark. Currently, he serves as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of BTW Real Estate Development, Inc. where he has partnered successfully in projects throughout San Diego County.
For his years of dedicated service, he has received many awards and recognitions, including being named one of the Outstanding Young Men of America, receiving the San Diego Federal Executive Association Outstanding Services Award, and being selected as one of 100 African-American role models in San Diego. In addition, he has been a member of County Citizens’ Law Enforcement Review Board and Affirmative Action Committee, as well as the San Diego City School District Community for the Education of African-American Children. He has been featured in numerous publications, including the San Diego Union Tribune, Minority Business Success Magazine, and USA Today. He has been a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for 60 years and is a member Alpha Pi Boule Fraternity. Joe Outlaw completed 25 years as a colonel with the U.S. Army. He resides in San Diego with his wife, Irene. They have three children: Kyle, Edward, and Michelle.
